Of course, the simplest way is to fly Virgin Atlantic, but the easiest way is to transfer from bank credit cards, Virgin is a transfer partner of 6 programs:

Virgin offers numerous transfer bonuses, often reaching up to 30%. This means that transferring 1000 points can yield an additional 300 points, making Virgin’s rewards program even more compelling. Additionally, Bilt occasionally provides bonuses ranging from 75% to 150%. Detailed information on Bilt bonuses will be covered בעז”ה in the Bilt posts.

Peak prices, and Off-peak prices

There is a difference in price between the peak times (the busy times) and the normal time, Virgin puts out a chart at the beginning of the year which days are peak and which days are not, look here: there is a definite price increase for the peak days and it does not move around according to demand,

Award chart

Virgin is one of the few airlines that still has an award chart with exact prices for each type of award and it does not become more expensive according to the demand like cash tickets which makes it possible to extract a stronger value from the points, Virgin has 2 awards Charts, one for peak times and one for off-peak times, these charts show the round trip point prices from the UK without the surcharges

Off-peak chart

Notice how an economy round trip ticket from London to New York is a meager 20,000 points!!

Surcharges and taxes

So far is the bright side of Virgin, here is the big but… the surcharges that Virgin puts up are often so high that they take away any benefit from booking through them, a business class ticket from New York to London (in off-peak times) is a bargain 47,500 points but a hefty over $1000 in surcharges,

Notice the very high surcharges

In a post about the Virgin Flying club sweet spots, we will discuss Bez”h how you can get incredible value from the Flight Club program.
